Ivan Makridin is an editor of Coda's Russian-language coverage. Originally from Russia, he is now based in Latvia due to the risk of legal persecution in his homeland. Before joining Coda, Ivan worked with major Russian outlets as a reporter and audio journalist focused on complex stories about politics, society, repressions and armed conflicts in Russia and beyond. He has been a nominee for the Russian independent journalist award "Redkollegia" for his work as an audio reporter.
